ORAG research activities
Several issues were raised here. It was intimated that several research projects had finished in Oxford - The i-gel study, and the Airtraq study There was the possibility of doing a further Airtraq study(nasal intubation). The Gliderite tube study was continuing.
-
Oxford Regional Airway Website
Dr Rangasami paid tribute to Dr Karthik Ponnusamy (currently ST4 in Oxford) who had worked very hard on the ORAG website- and the Chair thanked them both for their work. Since the last meeting, Dr Popats new airway book(of which many members of ORAG had written chapters) Difficult Airway Management, was now also available on the website. There was discussion about getting the case presentations from ORAG meetings on the website - and with appropriate consent issues, this was regarded as a good thing.

Any Other Business
-
-
The meeting was closed with an agreement to meet again in the autumn. Possible venues for next meeting - Milton Keynes, or a joint meeting with our Leicester colleagues.
-
Dr Benham raised the issue of succession. In the past, opportunities for someone else to take over as Chair of ORAG had been offered, but no names had come forward. One possibility is for a 'Deputy Chair' post could be created to allow a transition from the current Chair over a period of a year. Anyone interested in the post, to submit their name to the current Chair before the next meeting.
